  1. Improving Accuracy and Quality of Measurements. Through various initiatives and research, NMIM-SIRIM ensures the accuracy, reliability, and enhancement of the quality of gold purity measurements in the industry, which in turn boosts consumer, investor, and industry confidence.
  2. Purity Verification for Gold Hallmarking. NMIM-SIRIM plays a crucial role in supporting gold purity verification for gold hallmarking in Malaysia. NMIM ensures that the processes involved in testing and verifying the purity of gold meet national standards.
  3. Development of Malaysia Reference Materials of (MyREM). NMIM-SIRIM is responsible for developing the certified reference materials known as MyREM, which are required to calibrate and verify gold purity measurement instruments. These CRMs are crucial in ensuring the accuracy of measurement results used by the gold industry.
  4. Research Gold Counterfeiting. NMIM-SIRIM conducts in-depth research on gold counterfeiting issues in Malaysia. The aim is to protect consumers and the gold industry from fraudulent activities that undermine the quality and authenticity of gold products.
  5. Knowledge Transfer and Skill Enhancement. NMIM-SIRIM also offers training and consultation services to the gold industry players, including assay laboratory, gold manufacture, and pawnshops, to enhance skills and knowledge in methods and best practices for gold purity measurement. This includes exposure to the latest technology and techniques in the field.
