Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Berhad (MIDF)

MIDF group is a financial services provider in three core business areas, namely investment banking, development finance, and asset management, that caters to both entrepreneurs and large corporations and institutions.

Founded in 1960 as Malayan Industrial Development Finance Ltd (now MIDF), it emerged in response to World Bank recommendations for financing the industrialisation of Malaya. Over the past 65 years, MIDF Group has played a pivotal role in the development and modernisation of Malaysia’s economy and capital markets.
MIDF is a member of MBSB Berhad, which also serves as the financial holding company for MBSB Bank Berhad (MBSB Bank).

Key Roles:

MIDF, an agency under the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry, is responsible for managing government funds and providing financing to Malaysian businesses, particularly in the manufacturing and services sectors.

Responsibilities:
• Provides financing solutions for Malaysian businesses, especially SMEs and mid-sized companies.
• Supports industrial development by offering financing at a competitive financing rate for expansion, automation, and modernisation.
• Offers Islamic financing to cater to diverse business needs.

Description:
Introduction on Islamic Financing & its advantage for a resilient Global economy. The focus is to promote Islamic Finance, especially in key markets like Japan and other countries participating in the World Expo Osaka.

Participation Overview:

MIDF will present a talk to an international audience during Week 1, aligned with MATRADE’s “Malaysia as a Halal Champion” theme.

Topic: ” Sustainable Financing: The Islamic Financing Advantage for a Resilient Global Economy.” (Focus: To promote Islamic Finance, especially in key markets like Japan and other countries participating in the World Expo Osaka).
MIDF will invite speakers from Malaysia who are experts in Islamic Finance and have successfully implemented Islamic Financing in other countries, particularly in Central Asia. Islamic Finance is inclusive and applicable to all, not just Muslims. It also aligns with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Additionally, Islamic Finance contributes to a more sustainable economy.

MIDF will also present on its Government Financial Assistance programs for Malaysian companies participating in business matching throughout the first week of the Expo.

Objectives for EXPO:

To promote and encourage more companies, particularly from Japan and other participating countries at the World Expo Osaka, to adopt and embrace Islamic Finance and its long-term benefits for the global economy.
To provide financing for Malaysian companies that have secured projects or orders through their business matching participation.
