(MPC) Pocket Talk – Energy Efficiency and Renewable Industry in Malaysia: Key Initiatives and Business Opportunities Towards Achieving Net Zero Target

This talk aims to provide an overview of key energy efficiency initiatives in Malaysia, highlighting their relevance for investors seeking opportunities in the energy efficiency industry.

Key highlights will cover overview of the Malaysia’s energy landscape and government commitment aimed to achieve net zero target by 2050, major legal framework reform for the demand side management with key long term policies and programs such as new national energy policy with low carbon national aspiration, national energy transition roadmap, national energy efficiency action plan, national energy efficiency rebate program, national energy audit conditional grant, Green Technology Financing Scheme, Low Carbon Transition Fund and the enforcement of a the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act 2024.

The new act comes with mandatory requirements for large energy users and buildings that focused on the mandatory adoption of energy management system best practices, energy auditing, implementation of energy efficiency measures and energy efficiency labelling for buildings.

Also, will be shared are areas to be focused for large scale investments in energy efficiency industry, financial requirements needed and options of business models that are suitable in Malaysian market.
